– written
by Tim Douglas and read by Allan Wright.
£6.00 pp free UK
These poems by Borders farmer Tim Douglas were first broadcast in the
BBC radio production a Poem a Song and a Story. This cassette was made up
to satisfy the demand which followed the broadcasts. They reek of the
Border hills where Douglas’ family has farmed at Mainside of
Roxburghshire for more than 300 years. His main crops are cows, sheep,
barley and poems. The serious side pays tribute to
the Border Collie, The Lambing Man, Islay Malt, the Man from the
Department and Poor
Old Scotland. But the highlights for many are on the humorous side which
concentrates the travails of the trauchled farmers.
